Islam has three major principles. One principle is called tawhid which has to do with the unity of Allah. Another principle is nubuuwa or prophecy. But the principle called Qiyamah is the principle of eschatology.

Most of the information concerning Islamic eschatology comes not from the most sacred of Islamic books, the Qu’ran, but from the next most sacred book called the Hadith. The most important eschatological event in Islam is not the return of Christ but “the Hour” which is the future resurrection and judgment.

The Minor Signs of the Times

Prior to “the Hour” there are minor and major signs. The minor signs are divided between general signs of the end times and specific signs peculiar to Islam. The general signs include signs that reflect some of the signs of Matthew 24:4-9: An increase in false prophets, apostasy, and increase in wars and civil wars.

The specific signs that are peculiar to Islam are very weird and bizarre: people beginning to eat with their tongues like cows, time contracts so that a month is like a week, and wild beasts speaking like humans.

The Major Signs of the Times

The major signs begin with the Dajjal or the appearance of the antichrist and conclude with the resurrection and the judgment.

The return of Christ

To the Muslim, Jesus is not the son of God. Jesus was bodily taken to heaven and at the appointed time, Allah will send Jesus to earth, and according to Shittes, with the Mahdi to defeat antichrist. Some Shittes believe that the Mahdi will defeat antichrist and set up the kingdom. The Shitte view of the Mahdi rerpresents less than ten percent of Islam. However, some Muslims believe that Christ will return to the Mount of Olives, end all wars, kill antichrist (who is a Jew) and thus end the Jewish race.

The invasion of Gog and Magog takes place at the return of Christ and Allah gives Christ the victory over the northern armies.

The reign of Christ follows His return.

After the return of Christ and the defeat of antichrist at the battle of Gog and Magog, Christ will convert the world to Islam. The Islamic reign is similar and dissimilar the millennial reign of Christ in Scripture.

The last Judgment

There are actually two judgments according to Islam. At the death of each person two angels determine if the intermediate should be one of bliss or torture. To avoid the world wide conflagration, the world gathers at Syria. After three trumpets have been blown and life has been killed except for Allah, Allah will create a new heaven and earth.

There is one general judgment of the saved and unsaved. Mohammad is resurrected to sit on the right hand of Allah. Each person is judged according his or her works in “the Scale.” Those whose bad works out weighted their good works, will fall from the Bridge into Hell.

In heaven, Muslims receive virgins with whom they engage in sex. Ordinary Muslims receive 40 virgins but martyrs who died in jihad will receive 72 virgins.
